Wardrobe essentials?

Jeans, jeans and more jeans, along with well-tailored shirts. I have just returned from Italy and have topped up on Aspesi men's shirts and comfortable loafers.

Who are your favourite designers?

I've always admired Tom Ford. I wear his sunglasses and have recently bought a couple of his casual polo shirts.

Favourite city in the world to shop?

Milan. Every luxury brand is within walking distance and the city is full of really great restaurants. For me a perfect match.

Favourite look on a woman?

I enjoy elegance. I like clothes on a women that sit well and I prefer dark colours. I particularly like ballet shoes at the moment.

Most expensive item you've bought?

A B&B sofa that my wife, Karen, and I had long admired. It's such a beautiful design, both to look at and to use.

Where do you shop for shoes?

I wear Converse at work all day and loafers outside of work. My favourites have always been Tod's but recently I have changed my allegiance to Car Shoe.

What's the biggest mistake men make when it comes to fashion?

Older guys dressing too young. I have on occasion been guilty of this but fortunately I rarely get outside the front door. My youngest daughter, Grace, is extremely generous in sharing her opinion with regards to my dress sense.

Do you wear a suit?

I have a beautiful blue pinstripe suit I bought from Costume National that gets worn about twice a month and a dinner suit from Armani that I have owned for years, which makes an appearance three or four times a year.

Do you use skincare products?

I am addicted to Creme de la Mer. There is no other product quite as good.
