If this week's Melbourne Spring Fashion Week is anything to go by, women's fashion will continue to be all about dresses.

The Luxe Collective show at the Melbourne Town Hall, showcased some of the hottest things to come out this spring.

Touted as "a revelation of individuality and ideas, these 'Luxe' collections show how exquisite a thing can be when beauty and inspiration collide.

The beauty was certainly there, but the individuality was lacking.

Aurelio Costarella's collection created the buzz of the night.

The Western Australia-based designer has been wowing audiences at New York fashion shows and has definitely made his mark on Australia.

Costarella's dresses were either very long, edgy and cut at various angles or long and flowing, creating beautiful contrasts.

Throughout the show, black, grey and white dominated the colours, except for a few bohemian prints.

1970's-inspired fabric with bright colours and floral designs showed the only colour of the evening.

Playful dresses, high waisted trousers with either sharp tapered or very wide legs dominated the collections.

Noted designers Jayson Brunsdon and Maticevski's range of black, grey and neutral textured trousers and dresses will continue to be popular.

Big continued to be the theme, with big handbags and oversized jewellery dominating Christine's range.

Many of the dresses should provide inspiration for this year's Spring Racing Carnival and into the summer.

Fashion week continues until September 7, with over 100 free and ticketed shows being held throughout Melbourne over the week.
