STRIKE trainer Tim Martin reckons Mirabeau has the pedigree to make it as a stallion. The man who produced sizzling sprinter and soon to be crowned champion first-season sire Exceed And Excel parted with $525,000 to buy Mirabeau at last year's Magic Millions yearling sale.
Mirabeau made a one act affair of the opening race at Rosehill yesterday when coming off a second at Kembla which followed a debut third in midweek company at Canterbury.
"I've had a good opinion of him all the way along," Martin said. "He is a well-bred colt out of French Braids - a good mare Billy Mitchell used to train. He has a stallion's pedigree."
Mirabeau has thrived on racing and Martin has spring races in mind.
Karakatsanis was late to arrive at Rosehill but that didn't stop talented filly Goldam from scoring a strong win in the Champs Cafe Handicap.
Goldam, ridden by Tye Angland yesterday, won on debut at Randwick before seconds in the Widden Stakes and Inglis Classic as a two-year-old before her form went off.
"I've done that much work with her trying to get her to settle," said Karakatsanis, who forgot racing colours and had to watch from a TAB.
Enzedex Eagle started a red-hot favourite and after a cool Nash Rawiller ride made it three straight. "A nice up-and-coming stayer," Rawiller said. "He is not beating much but I always thought he'd be better suited on the bigger tracks and he proved that today."
"I told him it was a run short," Paul admitted.
Graeme only works four horses because, "I do all the work for Dad and Paul, it is a family affair", and added, "Dad bred this horse and I leased it off him with a few mates that wanted to race a horse".
